Composer Carl Schroeder (b. 1982) of Minneapolis, Minnesota, a graduate of St. Olaf College, writes music for concert band, orchestra, choir, chamber ensembles and solo piano that often connects with his other interests, notably American history, while also drawing inspiration from everyday life and surroundings.
His works have been performed by numerous ensembles including the Air Force Band of Mid-America, the California State University Bakersfield Concert Band, the Cornell University Symphonic Band, the Kyiv Municipal Chamber Choir, the Minnesota Symphonic Winds, the Minnesota Youth Symphony Orchestra, the Nebraska Wind Symphony, the St. Olaf Band and the St. Olaf Orchestra. He has received numerous commissions from ensembles and individuals, and four CDs of his music have been released, most recently "88 Keys: Piano Music by Carl Schroeder" in June 2006.
