Luke Gullickson (b. 1985) is an American musician and writer. His work as a composer reflects a wide range of interests, including classical, jazz, acoustic, and contemporary music as well as the American populist and experimental traditions.
Luke studied composition and piano at the University of Texas at Austin, Illinois Wesleyan University, and Paris' European American Musical Alliance. His pianistic activities have spanned classical repertoire, chamber music, new music, theater, jazz, and free improvisation. He was pianist for the UT New Music Ensemble and has collaborated frequently with Chicago's Sissy-Eared Mollycoddles. He currently spends his summers as Associate Music Director at Colorado's Rocky Mountain Repertory Theatre.
As a writer Luke has produced many reviews and musical writings as well as a few short stories and one delightfully unpublished novel. His weblog on music and culture, Sonatas and Interludes, has developed an international readership.
Luke also maintains obsessions with travel and the outdoors, interests that exert a profound influence on his creative work.
