RICHARD ANDREWS,a composer and pianist, graduated from the Julliard School of Music where he studied with Vincent Persichetti. His early piano teachers included Russell Sherman and Willie "the Lion" Smith. He has devoted as much time to performing as composing. In the sixties and seventies he gave many concerts of his own compositions and improvisations, both spontaneous and jazz-related. Examples of his solo piano music are on his CD "Sweet Water Rolling." His written work includes symphonies, piano music, choral music, art songs, chamber music , music for solo guitar and guitar duo, also for brass choir, for string orchestra,and a collection of piano solos for intermediate students.
