A native of Russia, Elena Doubovitskaya has established herself as a solo and collaborative musician after moving to the United States in 1998. In 2002, she performed her debut recital in Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall as part of Artists International Presentations, followed by a number of solo and chamber music recitals in the New York metropolitan area. From 2002 to 2005 Ms. Doubovitskaya performed and coached at the East-West Summer Music Festival in Altenburg, Germany.
Ms. Doubovitskaya’s accomplishments include prizes and awards from Artists International Presentations, Seattle International Piano Competition and Ibla Grand Prize Competition (Italy) among others. Ms. Doubovitskaya was awarded a number of fellowships and scholarships from the following institutions: Tanglewood Music Festival (Adele and John Gray Memorial Fellowship, Felicia Montealegre Bernstein Fellowship), the Dorothy L. Pound Award and Eckstein Grant from Northwestern University, and an academic scholarship from the Manhattan School of Music.
In 2009, as an outstanding collaborative pianist she was invited to perform in Tanglewood Music Festival and was featured in Festival of Contemporary Music. The highlights of the festival included performance of compositions by Bent Sørensen, Oliver Knuseen, George Perle, Andre Previn, Pierre Jalbert and music by fellow composers.
As soloist and chamber musician Ms. Doubovitskaya appeared in Prague International Piano Masterclasses, East- West International Music Festival, Sewannee Music Festival, and Hot Springs Music Festival. Her exceptional quality skills lead to collaboration with Associated Music Teachers League, resulting in performance at the Weill Recital Hall in Carnegie Hall for the 67th Young Musicians Concert, where she was featured as collaborative artist.
Academic affiliations include staff positions as vocal/instrumental coach at the California State University-Sacramento and Wagner College in New York City. She frequently coaches Russian vocal repertoire at Northwestern University Bienen School of Music and accompanies for the vocal studio of the renowned soprano Nancy Gustafson.
Ms. Doubovitskaya received her undergraduate degree from the Ural State “Mussorgsky” Conservatory in Ekaterinburg, Russia, followed by a Master’s Degree and Performance Certificate from the Manhattan School of Music under Solomon Mikowsky. She has participated in Masterclasses with Menahem Pressler, Emanuel Ax, James Levine, Garrick Ohlsson, Claude Frank, Kevin Kenner, Ian Hobson, Logan Skelton, Volker Banfield and Martin Katz; additional studies include coachings from Oxana Yablonskaya, Dawn Upshaw, Gerald Robbins, Norman Fisher and Laurie Carney.
Ms. Doubovitskaya is currently completing her Doctor of Music degree in Piano Performance at Northwestern University’s Bienen School of Music, studying under Ursula Oppens and Sylvia Wang.
