It's About Time, for drum set

Robert Cucinotta

About this work:
"It's About Time" is my second solo composition for the drum set. My first, "The Sky is Waiting" (1976), requires an extended "kit" and was written in a combination of proportional (spatial) and standard percussion notation. This time I decided to write for a standard 5-piece set and utilize standard drum set notation. Polyrhythms and tempo (or metric) modulation are employed throughout this composition. This work was first performed on August 11, 2002 at the Canberra School of Music of the Australian National University by percussionist Gary France. It is published by Kirkside Music (ASCAP).
Year composed: 1998

Instrumentation notes: 1 pedal bass drum, snare drum (snares engaged), floor tom-tom, 2 mounted tom-toms, high-hat, ride and crash cymbals.
