Tango quasi una Fantasia, for piano

Robert Cucinotta

About this work:
This recent work reflects the composer's interest in tango. The three sections (Tango Sentimental, Tango La Nacional and The Rat's Tango) are linked together in this fantasy for piano. The phrase "Quasi una Fantasia" (almost a fantasy) was used by Beethoven to describe his Piano Sonata No. 14 in C-sharp minor which only after his death became known as the "Moonlight" Sonata. Like this work, the tempi of the three movements progress from slow to fast. In addition, much of this tango fantasy shares the key of Beethoven's famous work. Tango quasi una Fantasia is published by Kirkside Music.
