American Composers Alliance (www.composers.com); originally written in 1961 as a portrait of the active and quiet sides of the composer's young son Liam (and taking a clue for the title from Milton Babbitt), the two-part piece was considerably revised in 2003 and then premiered by Margaret Mills in recital at Weill Recital Hall, Carnegie Hall.
