About this work:
In Clave, I have recombined elements of clave rhythm, reordering the chromosones on the underlying clave genes. Clave is Afro Cuban in origin, and has taken root in many different kinds of dance styles, Salsa among them. Clave, or key in Spanish, lies at the core of my elements of clave rhythms, thinking of reordering the chromosones on the underlying clave genes. Clave is Afro Cuban in origin, and is strongly associated with dances originating in Cuba. The Kansas City Star said: "Clave sounds like a deconstructed West Side Story, capturing the tropical heat and playfulness of the bomba beat….”
