About this work:
The title “Outsider” suggests a character that is rough and outside the mainstream, unsheltered and ready to face the forces of nature head-on. This character is captured in music featuring insistent melodic figures articulated in relentless sixteenth-notes. One tempo pervades the entire 11-minute work: “not fast, but always with a feeling of surging forward.”
