About this work:
Written in 1996, this piece has an unusual balance achieved between the 16 minute first movement and the other three short movements. The first movement "Premonition" is a sprawled sonata Allegro movement with rich harmonic textures. The second movement, "Scherzo" is fast and light in texture. Movement Three "Pussy Willow" is a Nocturne; Movement 4 "Finale" is a quixotic toccata. The piece has been performed by Nicholas Underhill and Randall Hodginson
