Aevum

Mark Nowakowski

About this work:
The old Latin word "Aevum" refers to "the energy of youth","lifetime", or even designates a specific spiritual destination. As such, the music is colorful, bombastic, triumphant, and yet quietly tragic. The piece starts with a clustering of energy in the strings, moving outwards until the means of the orchestra is exhausted. The piece finishes with a quiet and evocative section led by the Alto Flute.
