Corporate Coitus

About this work:
Corporate Coitus uses a recorded interview between the company CEO and a journalist. Using music by John Cage as an inspiration, I began to extract from the recorded interview all of the voiced, extra-verbal sounds— the "ahs" and "ums" and intakes of breath. I heard the piece as an imaginary sex act gathering intensity to a climax followed by a gradual de-tumescence. Corporate Coitus was programmed at the Electric Rainbow Coalition Festival of Electronic Music, Dartmouth College, August 2003.
