Jenece C. Gerber

About this work:
"i come undone" . Written for and premiered by the New York Virtuoso Singers in New York City (October 2007). Employs text in early modern French by 16th century poetess/courtesan Louise Labe as well as nonsense modern French poetry written by the composer. A modernist, light-hearted reaction to the discovery of the utter contemporality of Labe's 16th century entreaties for the rights and responsibilities of female intellectuals.
