wordless meetings

Ketty Nez

About this work:
"wordless meetings" was written in the winter of 2005-6 for the Boston University Chamber Chorus, and is dedicated to my parents, Marija and George. Recalling my family’s heritage, I used poems of contemporary Macedonian poets of my parents’ generation, Ante Popovski and Mihail Rendzov. Mixing the texts freely within this one-movement work, I wanted reflect to the ambiguous and allusive nature of the poetic use of “word,” concrete crystallizations of complex emotional states, here of nostalgia and loss, pervasive in much Macedonian literature of the twentieth century.
