About this work:
I began this piece about the same time Hurricane Katrina was coming through Jackson, MS. Although Jackson was not hit as hard as the Gulf Coast, we were without power for several days. I even spilled candle wax on one of the sketches. Though I wasn't consciencely trying to reflect my feelings about the experience I believe the music just might do that.
