Landscape Scenes

Kevin McCarter

About this work:
Listening to these "Landscape Scenes" is like viewing an exhibit of landscape paintings or visiting a place like the Missouri Botanical Gardens where you can walk through a variety of landscapes. The entrance to each new musical landscape is marked by changes in rhythm and texture. Some of the scenes will remind you of an earlier landscape; others are quite different. A few distinctive musical features, such as gently irregular rhythms and the rising 5th of the clarinet's first entrance, find a place in many of the scenes.
