About this work:
The 19th century was something of a boom time for deciphering ancient languages, the most familiar of which are ancient Egyptian and cuneiform. There were bumps along the way, however, and many first translations were incorrect, either due to way-overboard westernizing of ancient ideas and concepts, or just downright being wrong. Mistranslations is a setting of four such texts from the 19th century. While they aren't accurate translations, they have their own beauty.
