About this work:
This piece, written for Iannis Tselikas and Michael Chang, won the 2000 Malloy Miller Composition Competition at Boston University. It consists of one continuos movement with several sections. These sections have different levels of dialogue between the oboe and percussion; The oboe opens with a long solo that through seductive phrases and obnoxious multiphonics invites the percussionist to a dialogue. This dialogue then becomes a battle and finally ends in highly energetic unison.
