Symphony 339 in 4 Movements

Franklin Morris

About this work:
Mvt 1 - Overture - In a rather Popsy, show-business still alternating sections for full orchestra with sections for small groups of instruments, ending loudly. Mvt 2 - Landscape - A rather wispy chamber work becoming more intense in mid section and returning to first section character at end. Mvt 3 - Scherzo = typical classical secherzo with much more pungent harmonies and irregular rhythms than in classical times, ending somewhat casually. Mvt 4 - Postlude-Dance - Has a regular drumbeat background thurout creating a casual air, but the electrronic timbres of the beat suggest an exotic background.
