Mvt1 - Serioso. This a romantic symphonic mvt in the sense that it employs a variety of different themes and styles and has climactic material within. the ending is quiet. Mvt2 - Scherzo-rondo. This mvt is largely allgro and suggests relation to the two classic forms of the title. It ends climactically. Mvt3 - Andante espressivo. This begins with a single quiet lyric thematatic section, which is repeated with variation to end quietly.
