Sisters Face West
Rebekah Driscoll
About this work:
This piece was inspired by two sisters dealing with the loss of a loved one. Initially they have very different reactions and do not communicate with each other; this is represented by the cello's mournful long notes in contrast with the violin's agitated outbursts. The two instruments begin to play together, at first cautiously, then ferociously, and finally they reach a place of understanding and acceptance.
