"...so everything doesn't happen all at once."

Michael Wittgraf

About this work:
The title, “...so everything doesn’t happen all at once”, is the punch line to the riddle that begins “Why is there time?” The work alternates slow, chordal sections with fast, loud sections. The reference to the riddle is found in the fast sections, where a new element is added to each successive appearance, so everything doesn’t happen all at once until the final time. Dedicated to my second daughter, Inga Margarete Wittgraf, the piece progresses in an all or nothing fashion, much like Inga.
