Suite for Piano and Percussion

Douglas Townsend

About this work:
A work in classical style, with a melodic feeling. In three movements, each with a different mood: the first is romantic, the second is a scherzo (fast dance without a melody), and the third is a rondo. The sound reminds one of the piano sonatinas of Robert Schumann. First performance by a student ensemble at SUNY Fredonia on April 9, 2010, at a concert in Rosch Recital Hall entitled "Past, Present and Future," presented by the Ethos New Music Society. Dr. Rob Deemer conducted the student ensemble, comprised of pianist Robin Morace and four percussionists (Sean Perham, Torrell Moss, Caitlin Lusk. and a fourth unidentified female student). Needs a professional premiere.
