Theme and Variations for String Orchestra

Douglas Townsend

About this work:
For beginning string students, first or second year. The piece has a theme similar to a folk song. Each variation changes the mood and the melody slightly. The middle movement is a triumphant march which leads imperceptibly to a joyous but quiet finale. Very positive review in the May 2011 issue of American String Teacher (Vol. 61, No. 2, at p. 66). Published by Carl Fischer. You can here this piece at www.carlfischer.com/mp3/2474757.mp3.
