eTudes

Andrea La Rose

About this work:
When I moved to Boston for graduate school, I started playing in the subway to supplement my income, a practice I continued upon moving to New York. In Boston, I almost always played by myself, performing solo flute pieces from the repertoire. I finally wrote some etudes of my own to play, something in more of a “vernacular” style than what I usually perform or write, naming each etude after the first seven stops on the E-line, where I lived in Boston. They still, however, have not been performed in the T.
