About this work:
With libretto by Laura Harrington, this (nearly) a cappella opera was premiered by Nautilus Music-Theater, Minneapolis, Minnesota. It requires a cast of 4, soprano, mezzo soprano, baritone and tenor, and is a story of a dysfunctional family and a daughter's search for honor, escape, and peace. It can be performed with piano and/or synthesizer. The music is tonal, harmonically sparse except in a few places of rich rhythmic and harmonic impulse. The singing varies from near-speech to highly expressive and emotional lyricism.
