Transformation

Dalit Warshaw

About this work:
A thereminist myself, I had for some time been looking for the opportunity to write an instrumental work in which the theremin would be featured in both soloistic and chamber contexts. The world of sultry enchantment that I longed to portray in "Transformation" seemed to call for the color of the theremin, at its best a Siren-like instrument of utmost expressivity and lyricism akin to a voice (but one not obligated to change breath!).
Year composed: 2007
Duration: 05:00:00
Ensemble type: Chamber or Jazz Ensemble, Without Voice:Other Combinations, 2-5 players
Instrumentation: 2 Violin, 1 Viola, 1 Cello, 1 Theremin
