Soliloquy

Andre Bregegere

About this work:
Soliloquy: this piece is based on the idea of a soliloquy as an inner dialogue among the ever-changing, interwoven voices that inhabit (and constitute) our mind. This initial concept translates musically into an exploration of the rich palette of colors and textures offered by this ensemble, with its rich combination of strings, woodwinds and brass. The form is episodic, featuring meditative, choral-like passages, alternating with some more playful detours, and framed by a recurring motto. This local heterogeneity is brought together, at a deeper level, by the use of a consistent harmonic system throughout.
