Incarnation

Andre Bregegere

About this work:
Incarnation/* is a playful exploration of the possible relationships between flute and piano, and consists in several episodes of contrasting character. The opening section features the flute in most melodic, lyrical guise, while the piano oscillates between simple harmonic support, and a more actively involved, offering its commentary to the flute melody. In the second section both instruments are equal partners, playfully engaged in a feverish game of cat-and-mouse. Finally, a dream-like interlude for the piano releases the accumulated tension, and ushers in the last section, reminiscent of the opening and bringing the piece to an appeased closure.
