Symphony 386 in 4 Movements
Franklin Morris
About this work:
Movement 1 - Allegro con spirito. A fast movement in several contrasting sections, which share the designation conspirito, the last ending with a climax. Movement 2 - Evening Song. A slow movement beginning with a legato melody against a chordal background, later becomes more active, then finally returns to the opening quiet texture. Movement 3 - Vivo Voices. Opens with agitated voices constrasting a pizzicato texture; later voices constrast a repeated note piano texture. The latter continues on to a climatic ending. Movement 4 - Concerto Espressivo. Single line melodies contrast a deliberate chordal, marcato texture. The two continue to a quiet ending.
