Dr. Jolly's Quickstep (for Band)
Douglas Townsend
About this work:
See the notes for the brass quintet and percussion original version of this work, which is an arrangement for concert band. This version is substantially the same length as the original and has a lovely trio in two parts: the first utilizes only a brass quintet and percussion; the second utilizes the full concert band. The work was premiered on July 3, 2010, at Ammann Riverfront Park, Riverhead, NY, by the American Concert Band, Dr. Kirby Jolly conducting. It was performed again by the same organization on July 18, 2010, at Morgan's Memorial Park, Glen Cove, NY. The work is dedicated to Dr. Kirby Jolly, for whom it is named.
