Movement 1 - Romance. A lyric slow movement shifting mainly betwee a sustained chordal section and an arpeggiated back and forth figure, plus contrasting lyric sections. Movement 2 - Aggressive Temperment. Title is portrayed by fast moving figures, screams, and loud voices, presented successively and combined. Movement 3 - Melancholic Temperment. Here, soft, slow textures clash with short , sharp jabs, ending softly. Movement 4 - Concert Allegro. In this, musical construction takes over as the dominating and contrasting, fast moving, divergent ideas are presented, ending in a climax.
