Sequoia

About this work:
Sequoia Program Note:
This piece, for live marimba and tape, explores the relationship between wood and fire. It is an attempt to hear wood in two distinctly different ways: as a living percussive instrument that rustles, snaps, and crackles, and as fuel for a forest fire that is determined to consume an entire Sequoia grove.
