Corridors
Gregory Wanamaker
About this work:
Corridors is a continuous set of free developing variations based on a few small motives. The word “corridor” has many specific meanings, but it generally refers to connecting passages and areas. For musicians, corridor may further bring to mind the word “transition.” While there is no specific programmatic intent in Corridors, the work is initially inspired by a few photographs taken of dark stone passageways in various locations. The material, however, seemed to develop by itself in a manner fitting a set of continuous variations.
