Tango

Drake Mabry

About this work:
Tango, for flute quartet, is dedicated to Samuel Coles. This quartet can be played separately or as part of a suite of C.S. Chaconne, Meditation and Tango. This is an abridged arrangement of my Tango for orchestra found elsewhere in the list of compositions. The tempo is rapid throughout. The chord progression is based on the Nuevo Tango style invented by Astor Piazzolla with the melodic ideas shared equally among the four flutists. The work ends with an exciting roof raising finish. Video and audio samples can be found on YouTube and at www.myspace.com/drakemabry.
