About this work:
The original version of this work for string orchestra was commissioned and composed in 1994 and premiered in 1995 in Philadelphia. (See the performance notes under that version.) The piano reduction was begun in 2010 and completed in 2011 by the composer. It premiered on April 26, 2011, at Saint Peter's Church, 54th and Lexington Ave., NYC, at a concert entitled "2nd Annual Social Networking Concert." Pianist David Oei headed the ensemble with the three solo violinists, Eriko Sato, and two student violinists, Soohyun Choi, and Tzu-En Lee. The video can be seen at www.youtube.com/douglastownsend.
