All at Once

    About this work:
All at Once is a reshaping of a 50 second piano piece that I composed to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the College Music Society and performed at its national conference in Atlanta in 2008. While it’s true that one of the first things a composer must learn is how to extend a musical theme in time, to compose a work that has a beginning, a middle and an end and is less than a minute long is no less demanding. Almost as challenging but no less enjoyable is to reconceive something that has already been composed but for a completely different performance medium and in such a way that a perceptive listener will not choose to compare the two versions but will enjoy both equally.
