Mount Watkins

Kevin McCarter

About this work:

Mount Watkins was inspired by photographs of Yosemite Valley taken by Carleton Watkins in the 1860s.  One of the mountains was named for him in appreciation of his work.  The photographs bring together the rocky grandeur of the mountains, the textured fullness of pines and leafy trees, the energy of the waterfalls, and the reflective clarity of the Merced River on calm days.
