Dances, Deconstructed

Lawrence Axelrod

About this work:

The two movements of this piece reimagine familiar dances in two ways. The first movement, titled "Salon", takes the Tango, Charleston and Waltz and alternates among them, presenting surprising and exciting contrasts. The second movement is a Tarantella, using the typical driving triplet rhythm to weave among the various instruments.
