LIGHTING ME AS A MATCH (Three Scenes of Day)

Priscilla McLean

About this work:

LIGHTING ME AS A MATCH (Three Scenes of Day) are three evocative, philosophical songs comprising morning, noon, and evening, each with its own emotional feelings and drama during one's day or lifetime.  Text is by Priscilla McLean.  The music, written in 1968, is in a style similar to Benjamin Britten's and unlike McLean's later avant-garde electronic writing.  The recorded version here features a chamber ensemble at Indiana University:  tenor Bill McDonald; Joan Barrett, violin; Peggy Robinson, french horn; Bill Schutt, piano; Ron Heller, percussion; and Eduard Forner, conductor.
