Vagabond Drumming, Book IV

Mark Gresham

About this work:

Vagabond Drumming, Book 4, for percussion duo, was premiered Octiober 19, 2010 as part of a neoPhonia series concert at Kopleff Recital Hall, Georgia State University, Atlanta Georgia, perperformed by percussionists Mesia Austin and Greg Isabelle

ArtsATL music critic Pierre Ruhe wrote in his review of the concert: "On Tuesday we heard the premiere of Book IV of the [Vagabond Drumming] series, with student percussionists Mesia Austin and Greg Isabelle. It’s in five short movements, ranging from playful (No. 1) to tribal (No. 3) to a sort of toy-maker’s workshop (No. 4). The whole thing had color and texture and a great vibe. And it never exceeded the students’ abilities — so the performers could nail each piece."  ["Review: NeoPhonia poses the hard question, how good are Atlanta’s composers?" by PIERRE RUHE | ArtsATL.com, Octoiber 19, 2010]
