With American painter George Tooker's painting as its source, this 1-movement tone-poem is in 3 sections, the first is a slow reconciliation from great distances and differences, from very high and very low to a big unison F, followed by a tentative and increasingly warm, lyrical embrace, and finished with a rousing and, finally, triumphant finale
(including a trio for flute, viola and tuba along the way).
