Simple Blessing (Organ)

David P. Sartor

About this work:
This gentle and very traditional composition is ideal as a prelude to worship or as preliminary music for a wedding. In Intro-A-B-A-B1-Coda form, the engaging "A" first theme appears expressively on a solo flute stop, and returns later on a solo reed stop. A tutti "B" section offers contrast and interest, and the coda brings the work to an elegant and quiet conclusion. Simple Blessing was premiered in September 2002 by Julia C. Callaway, A.A.G.O., organist, Vine Street Christian Church, Nashville, Tennessee.
