Goldilocks and the Three Bears

Daniel Dorff

About this work:
The familiar story set for narrator and mixed octet, commissioned by the Minnesota Orchestra's Kinder Konzerts for 53 pre-school performances. The bears are illustrated by growly Bass Tbn (papa), elegant midrange Cello (mama), and squeaky high clarinet (baby bear), and variants of a common motif to show how they are a family yet all very different. This helps the story and meets music education objectives for contrast and variation. Goldilocks is portrayed through a flute playing very different music. Goldilocks apologizes for her rudeness at the end and makes them a pancake breakfast. Also available for narrator with chamber orchestra; on rental from Theodore Presser Company (610-525-3636, ext. 209).
