About this work:
Comic chamber opera set in the middle east (Islamabad). Loosely based on a tale from "A Thousand and One Nights". Premiered by McNeese State University Music Department faculty and students. Principles are a young lyric soprano, a middle-aged baritone, and a mezzo-soprano Lesser roles call for a tenor, a mezzo, a lyric soprano, and a bass-baritone. A small chorus is required in the closing scene. The libretto is by Betty Read Jordahl. The orchestra calls for 1 of each ww and brass, 2 perc,3 timp, piano, and strings.
