About this work:
This piece was first performed as a work-in-progress in early 2001. I revised it heavily over the next year, and the New Jersey Symphony gave the official premiere in July of 2002. The excerpt from the first performance reflects the ideas of the piece in an encapsulated form, and its chamber-like atmosphere is in stark contrast to much of the orchestral writing that preceeds it
