Brandenburg Fantasia #1
Lawrence Axelrod
About this work:
This is the first of a series of pieces which are companions in orchestration to J.S. Bach's Brandenburg Concerti. This has the same scoring as Bach's #3. Though there are some "deep musical links" between my work and Bach's, there is no direct quotation and the work is not at all neo-Baroque. I did write it in the hopes that it could be played by both period and modern instruments.
