About this work:
A bluesy musical theatre piece with book and lyrics by Philip S. Goodman, based on the novel by Jefferson Young. Set in rural Mississippi, 1946, the story is about a black tenant farmer and his family.
It will premiere at the Vienna Chamber Opera in Austria (or the Weiner Kammeroper) November 2006.
Between 2003 and 2005, the show was developed in readings at the Actor's Studio in New York, Musical Theatre Works, The National Alliance for Musical Theatre at Dodger Stages in NY, and the Shomberg Center in Harlem.
