About this work:
Rouge, for string quartet, was composed as a synaesthetic response to the color red. The timbres, harmonies used in this piece express different aspects of this color; passion, intensity, and drama, to list a few. This piece was premiered in Charleston, SC on April 12, 2003 at a concert entitled "Synaesthesia" which linked music with selected works in the "Sight of Music" exhibit at the Gibbes Museum of Art.
