Prince Ta-Khai dreams one night of a beautiful maiden, but before he can ask her name, she has vanished. He wakes up devasted, and dedicates himself to finding his true love with the help of a magical companion, the Bird Feng. The Story of the Bird Feng is adapted from a Chinese fairy tale. It is the first in a series of three operas about love (The Story of the Bird Feng, The Tale of Cupid & Psyche, The Star Lovers).
